Chair Yoga
Tuesdays & Thursdays 11:15am - 12pm
Chair yoga classes are designed for those unable to join a mainstream, mat-based class because they have difficulty getting up and down from the floor.

Chair Yoga is suitable for everyone but incredibly beneficial for people with, or have:
-
Long term injuries.
-
Rehabilitating after surgery.
-
Disabilities.
-
Living with chronic illnesses.
-
Balancing issues.
-
Limited mobility.
Chair yoga is a safe but challenging practice built on a traditional alignment-based yoga. It adapts classic yoga poses to meet the needs of people who prefer to have some support for seated and standing poses.
Chair Yoga is an effective way to improve posture, coordination and balance. It can help reduce anxiety and tension, and make you stronger and more flexible.
Classes are designed so that everyone feels it is the right level for them. There are always modifications for each pose and options to rest when needed.
You will be encouraged to listen to your own body and choose what feels right, so that you will feel supported and empowered enough to explore and play.
Chair yoga, just like traditional yoga has many more benefits than just physical movement. It is a holistic practice for the body, mind and soul, creating a sense of unity and oneness.

In each class there will be elements that include:
-
The hands and feet
-
The movement of the spine
-
Core strength
-
Balance and co-ordination
-
Awareness of the breath and mindfulness
The first half of the class is seated and then there are options to repeat or explore other variations including standing.
I have plenty of props to aid and support.
If you can’t make the class for whatever reason, you can join via zoom.

The class is 45 minutes, with the option of staying on for another 15 minutes to socialise with the other students and myself.
As I have limited places, I operate a block booking system. You buy a block of classes for a confirmed place in a specific class each week for a particular block. If you are unable to make any of the block there is no facility to credit, come to another class or receive a refund. (Unless at the discretion of Alison).
There is a ‘drop-in’ facility available, spaces permitting.
If you've got a few minutes, why not give this short seated sequence a try which can help you to maintain healthy back care.
