ABOUT
Hello and welcome to Alison Foster Yoga and The Streetly Yoga Shala. I’m Alison, an experienced and passionate Yoga Teacher offering a range of yoga classes, from gentle yoga classes for beginners to more advanced classes and one to ones.  I look forward to sharing with you the wonderful benefits that yoga can provide.
At the age of 19 I'd dabbled with a bit of yoga but I found and fell in love with T'ai Chi Ch'uan and became a dedicated practitioner of the Lee family Style for over 10 years. I absolutely loved practicing the forms and integrating Taoism into my everyday life. But, as with everything in life, things change and evolve, and my path slowly turned more towards yoga. I began delving deeper into the vast, magical and beautiful world of yoga. And, to this day, as every day passes, I continue to see where my practice guides me.
Yoga has helped me physically: helping me overcome injuries and general wear and tear. But more importantly, it has helped me mentally. Especially through times of hormonal imbalance, mood swings, episodes of anxiety, depression and the menopause.

Over the years I have practiced many different styles of yoga with wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable teachers, developing a committed and continuous practice that includes postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama), deep relaxation (yoga nidra), chanting (mantra) and meditation. My practice also includes yoga retreats, workshops, courses, satsangs (gatherings with Q&A) and kirtans (music & chanting). I am a fully qualified yoga teacher and have been teaching yoga since 2015. I've always held onto my love of T'ai Chi and it very much integrated into my yoga style. My teaching focuses largely on the importance of breathing techniques and linking it with each posture. In time, this becomes a moving meditation; creating emotional balance, mental clarity and well-being.

As I continue with my own self development, I am now a qualified Reiki L2 practitioner and Brave Thinking Institute Life Coach.
